About Us

H.H. Beam Elementary School is proud to be one of only 10 Innovation Schools in Gaston County Schools. This distinction means we focus on thoughtful strategies, purposeful teaching, and enthusiastic learning to support student achievement. With additional instructional support and advanced teacher roles, we are working hard to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

We offer the ASPIRE after-school program, which provides students with extra learning opportunities and enrichment activities in a safe and supportive environment.

Through our partnership with local high schools, we take part in the Reading Soulmates program. This initiative brings high school students into our classrooms to read with second graders, helping to strengthen literacy skills and build positive relationships.

Diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Our students and staff come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, creating a learning environment that values inclusion and global awareness. We've hosted an international festival where our international teachers shared stories, traditions, and experiences from their home countries. To better serve our school community, we have multilingual staff members, and our front office team is actively learning Spanish. We are committed to making sure language is never a barrier to communication or education.

We also believe in the power of the arts. Our students participate in music and art classes, and we have plans to expand our offerings to include dance. One of our highlights was a musical performance night, where students had the chance to showcase their talents during our Title I event.

H.H. Beam is home to a dedicated science station that provides hands-on experiences for all grade levels. The science activities are directly connected to what students are learning in the classroom, helping them see how science applies to the world around them.
